ClumsyLinkWatch™ is a Windows internet-connection monitoring tool published by Clumsy's Lab LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how information related to the public website, direct support contact, and the desktop app is currently handled.
This page is written to match what the product actually does today. If the product later adds telemetry, analytics, licensing/account features, or other network-facing behavior, this policy will be updated before those behaviors ship — not backfilled after the fact.
ClumsyLinkWatch runs entirely on your machine. Everything it measures — probe results, outage events, latency samples, WAN state changes, and generated reports — is written to a local SQLite database on your computer. None of this data is transmitted to Clumsy's Lab LLC.
Separately, the app can send a small anonymous usage signal — but only if you turn it on. As of v0.9.2 telemetry is off by default and sends nothing until you enable it from Settings → Data & Privacy. Upgrading from an earlier version resets it to off, because the earlier default was on and we don't treat a default as consent. If enabled, it tells us the app is being used and roughly how, not what your connection looks like, and it can be turned back off at any time with no loss of functionality.
The telemetry above never includes probe results, outage events, latency/loss numbers, public IP addresses, WAN state, Starlink dish telemetry, or anything you type into a report (ISP name, account number, location). No file paths, hostnames, or raw device identifiers are ever sent — only a one-way hashed install ID. ClumsyLinkWatch does not include crash reporting. Pro license checks are a separate, narrowly scoped exchange described in Pro Licensing and Purchases; they carry none of your monitoring data either.
ClumsyLinkWatch checks clumsyslab.tech for newer versions so it can offer you an in-app update. This
check requests a small update manifest file and does not include your monitoring data, IP address beyond normal HTTP
request handling, or any personally identifying information beyond what any web request inherently carries (like your
IP address, handled the same way as any other visit to this website).
This section only applies if you buy or activate ClumsyLinkWatch Pro. The free version makes no license checks.
Buying Pro. Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record: it handles payment, sales tax and receipts, and your card details go to Lemon Squeezy, never to us. When a purchase completes, Lemon Squeezy sends us your name, email address, the order and your license key, so we can support your license and answer billing questions. Lemon Squeezy's own privacy policy governs what it does with your payment information.
License checks from the app. When you activate, deactivate, or periodically confirm a Pro license
(about once every 24 hours while the app is running), the app contacts ops.clumsyslab.tech and sends:
For each activated machine, our license server stores the hashed machine identifier, a reference to the activation at Lemon Squeezy, the app version, the IP address and browser/app user-agent string of the most recent check, and timestamps. This is used to count your activations (up to three at a time), to stop a key being shared widely, and to troubleshoot license problems you report. It is never used for advertising and never sold. Activation records are kept for as long as the license exists; deactivating a machine ends its activation. Offline. If the app can't reach the license server, Pro keeps working for 14 days. No monitoring data is ever included in a license check.
If you choose to send screenshots, logs, exported reports, or other troubleshooting material to support, we use that material only to investigate the issue, reply to you, and improve the product. Please avoid sending anything sensitive you're not comfortable having reviewed as part of a support exchange, and redact ISP account numbers or other personal details from exported reports before sharing them if you'd rather not include them.
Like most hosted websites, clumsyslab.tech may generate ordinary server logs or hosting-side request records, handled as part of normal site operations and security. This page does not describe a separate, product-specific advertising or tracking stack for ClumsyLinkWatch™.
If you follow links to third-party services such as Discord, those services operate under their own privacy terms.
Support messages and attachments may be retained for as long as reasonably needed to respond, troubleshoot, or keep continuity across a support thread. Your local monitoring database stays on your machine under your control — the app's Settings let you configure retention (how long raw samples are kept before roll-up) and you can delete the database yourself at any time.
This policy will be updated as the product evolves. Any new network-facing behavior — for example, email delivery of alerts or reports — will be documented here accurately, including what is and isn't sent, before it ships.
