Is individual use really free?
Yes. No account, no license key, no expiry, no nag screen. If you're using ClumsyNetWatch on your own for personal, homelab, learning, evaluation, or light single-user use, it's free. Full feature access, no artificial limits.
When does free use become commercial use?
Commercial licensing kicks in when ClumsyNetWatch stops being just one person using one copy on their own and becomes broader organizational deployment — multiple users, multiple company-managed devices, managed internal workflows, MSP or client-service use, bundling, resale, or other paid service delivery. When in doubt, send us an email and we'll give you a straight answer.
Can one person at a company use it without a license?
Yes. A single person using a single copy on their own is fine under the free individual-use model. Once it becomes a team rollout, a multi-device deployment, or a managed organizational workflow, contact us for commercial licensing.
Do MSPs need a license?
Yes. Using ClumsyNetWatch to scan managed client networks — even as part of routine maintenance — is commercial use. Contact us for MSP pricing; we can quote per-seat or per-client-network rates.
Can I get a site license for my whole team?
Yes. Contact us with your team size and we'll quote a flat per-seat or per-site rate.
Do donations replace commercial licensing?
No. Donations help fund development, hosting, and future updates, but they do not replace a required commercial, team, MSP, or multi-copy organizational license.
Why is a Microsoft Store release planned?
The Microsoft Store gives Windows users a trusted install and update path without making direct-download builds the only normal option. Direct downloads remain available for manual installs and testing, but Store distribution is planned as the cleaner install path once the package is ready and approved.
What is the Commons Clause?
ClumsyNetWatch ships under MIT License + Commons Clause. The Commons Clause restricts selling the software or offering it as a commercial service without a separate license from Clumsy's Lab LLC. Full terms in the EULA.
