ClumsyFileMover™ · Last updated: September 11, 2026
ClumsyFileMover™ is a Windows file-transfer and workflow tool published by Clumsy's Lab LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled across the public website, direct support contact, the in-app feedback form, anonymous usage telemetry, locally stored credentials, and Pro license purchases and validation.
It applies to the application however you obtained it, including downloads from clumsyslab.tech and installations from the Microsoft Store. If the product later expands diagnostics, update checks, telemetry, or other network-facing behavior, this policy will be updated before those behaviors ship.
Most of what we receive is information you actively choose to send. The rest is anonymous and can be switched off.
ClumsyFileMover™ is a file-transfer client, so it necessarily handles the hostnames, usernames, and passwords for the servers you connect to. All of it stays on your machine. Saved connections, credentials, transfer history, session logs, and app settings are written to the application's local data folder under your Windows user profile. None of it is transmitted to Clumsy's Lab, and nothing is written to the Windows registry.
You can enable an optional master password in Settings. When it is on, saved credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM using a key derived from your master password via PBKDF2-SHA256 at 200,000 iterations, and the app requires that password to unlock at launch. The master password itself is never stored or transmitted — only a verifier derived from it. If you lose it, the saved credentials cannot be recovered by us or by anyone else.
Connection backups you export are encrypted with a passphrase you choose. Files you transfer travel directly between your machine and the server you specify; they never pass through Clumsy's Lab infrastructure.
Information you send us directly may be used to:
We do not describe that information as being sold, packaged, or used for advertising profiles. If the scope of product data handling changes later, this page will be updated to reflect that directly.
If you choose to send screenshots, logs, job details, or other troubleshooting material, we use that material only to help investigate the issue, reply to you, and improve the product. Please avoid sending anything sensitive that you do not want reviewed as part of a support exchange.
Since ClumsyFileMover™ is a file-movement tool, support material may sometimes reveal filenames, paths, server names, or workflow details. Share only what you are comfortable sharing, and sanitize private details when appropriate.
Like most hosted websites, clumsyslab.tech may generate ordinary server logs or hosting-side request records. Those records are handled as part of normal site operations and security. This page does not currently describe a separate, product-specific advertising or tracking stack for ClumsyFileMover™.
If you follow links to third-party services such as Discord or other outside platforms, those services operate under their own privacy terms and policies.
Messages, support notes, and attachments may be retained for as long as reasonably needed to respond, troubleshoot, keep continuity across a support thread, or maintain business records. Retention may vary depending on the type of request and whether follow-up is still active.
If you need help with a privacy-related request tied to a direct support exchange, contact us and include enough context for us to locate the message thread.
ClumsyFileMover™ is now free. Pro licenses sold before September 16, 2026 were processed by Lemon Squeezy (Lemon Squeezy, LLC). Clumsy's Lab LLC does not process, store, or have access to your payment card numbers, CVV codes, or billing addresses. All payment card handling is subject to Lemon Squeezy's Privacy Policy.
After a purchase is completed, Clumsy's Lab receives from Lemon Squeezy only what is needed to fulfil the license: your name, email address, and the license key for the order. This information is used to issue and support your Pro license. Clumsy's Lab does not receive or store your card number, expiry date, billing address, or any other payment instrument data.
License key validation: The ClumsyFileMover™ app contacts Clumsy's Lab's licensing endpoint to activate and validate Pro license keys. The desktop app does not call Lemon Squeezy directly. During activation/validation, the app sends the license key and a privacy-safe install/device hash; it does not send hostnames, usernames, IP addresses, file names, file paths, connection names, server names, credentials, file contents, browsing history, or transfer activity. License keys are stored locally using Electron safeStorage where available, backed by Windows DPAPI. The app caches validation state locally, checks periodically, and keeps a 14-day offline grace period if the licensing server is unreachable.
ClumsyFileMover™ includes an optional feature that explains a failed transfer in plain English. It is switched off by default and does nothing until you add your own Anthropic API key in Settings → General. Clumsy's Lab does not supply, subsidise, or proxy this key, and we never see it — it is stored locally on your machine and sent only to Anthropic when you use the feature.
When you ask for an explanation of a specific error, the app sends the following directly from your machine
to Anthropic's API at api.anthropic.com:
Be aware that an error message or a filename can itself reveal a path, a hostname, or other details about your environment. The request does not include your passwords, SSH keys, master password, license key, file contents, connection list, or transfer history. No request is ever made unless you explicitly ask for an explanation of a particular error.
Anthropic processes these requests under its own terms and privacy policy, as the API customer relationship is between you and Anthropic. If you would rather nothing leave your machine, simply leave the API key field empty — the rest of the application is fully functional without it.
Builds downloaded from clumsyslab.tech check for new versions against our update server and send no personal information when doing so. Builds installed from the Microsoft Store do not self-update — the Store handles updates, and the in-app updater is disabled in those builds.
This policy will be updated as the product evolves. If ClumsyFileMover™ later expands diagnostics, analytics, or other network-facing features, those will be documented here before deployment — not backfilled after the fact.
